I want to wear knee high boots but dont want people (especially the women) looking me up & down in a weird way just coz boots aren't normal everyday shoes in the Philippines. How to stop this?

Just say the boots were approved by Amelia Marcos.

To Iris: The reason why nobody wears boots in Manila Philippines is because IT"S HOT(Temperature). It would be uncomfortable for us to wear boots. Fashion here is a lot different from where you are from because we have to adapt to the conditions. The reason why you are getting stared at is maybe they admire your boots. Or maybe they were wondering why you were wearing one in such a hot country ( though it gets a little mild sometimes). It also depends on the place where you were wearing boots. If you were wearing boots walking in a dirt road, rough road , they would stare at you because that is not practical. Like it is not practical for us non-boot users to wear normal shoes in cold climate countries. If you were wearing boots at a formal party they would stare at you. If you are wearing booths in a mall, a private party, in a club etc there would be only two reasons why they would do this. It's either they admire/like the boots you are wearing, or they are just envious. As VESNA said just stop caring if you want to continue wearing boots. It's your own body so why care what they think, right. The Philippines is a free country. You're not violating anything. I've always admired those with their own kind of fashion because you can tell that they are confident and artistic. If anyone else looks you up and down just hold your head high.

To Kayak: LOL - It's actually Imelda Marcos not Amelia. She was the First Lady from way back who has thousands of shoes.

Stop caring, since you can't stop everyone else thinking different from you. And I was just curious on average temperatures in Manila, Philippines,is it like 100 F or a little bit lower...
