My boyfriend and I are wondering what our future children could look like. What are our chances of having a blonde child or a dark-haired child?

I have blue-black (yes it's very dark) hair. Both of my parents and grandparents have/had black hair. I was also born with a head full of black hair at birth.

My boyfriend has dark blonde hair. His mother has light blonde hair and his father has brown-black hair. All of my boyfriend's brother and sisters have brown hair. He was born bald.

Its so hard to tell lol Each person carries a pair of each gene one from mum one from dad this goes for hair colour, eye colour etc. generally brown hair/ brown eyes is dominant over blonde hair blue eyes (thats the science of it) but it seems so random to me. My fiance's parents both have dark hair and he has red hair what the?!! and our daughter has dark hair like me but blue eyes and I have brown eyes you just never know what will happen and that makes it so much more exciting I think :)

Black hair is usually dominant to blonde hair, most likely, your sprouts will have darker hair. The genetics of hair color are a bit more complicated than say, eye color and there are a lot of factors that change the guess. Some characteristics are carried only on the X chromosome (including male-patterm-baldness) so your son would inherit those characteristics from your side of the family. There are a lot of things to consider.
My best guess is that all of your children will have black hair at birth. Your grandchildren (depending on your children-in-law's genetics) will have a 25-50% incidence of light brown or blonde hair.
Hope that helps

My husband has brown, I have brown. My mother and father have brown hair. My mother in law is the only person in the bunch with the blond hair. But that's what my youngest daughter got!
But she and my oldest daughter (different dad) are clones except for the hair!

ok, my kinfolk are all blonde with both blue or eco-friendly eyes, my Husband has brown hair & eyes and is tall. i imagine that our infant could have his Father's colouring. on the challenge of limbs, the scans up to now be sure this. Our infant has his Daddy's lengthy legs and hands, notwithstanding he has my nostril. the newborn looks like his Dad in personality too. My Husband is a evening owl, that is at the same time as our infant is maximum energetic. My Husband sleeps consisting of his hands in the back of his head, I actually have various test images of the newborn doing an same. wager from the above, i did not have various enter into this infant!!!!

brown is the stronger gene, so it's likely that your baby will have dark hair. Not necessarily as dark as yours though. My cousin is half Filipino(his mom is Filipino and his dad is white with med. blonde hair and blue eyes) and his ex-wife has light brown hair. they have 3 girls one with dark blonde hair, brown eyes, one with med. brown hair ,blue eyes, and one with light brown hair and hazel eyes. so there is a good chance if you have a few kids that they could all have different colored hair and eyes.

I'm sure if you google you will find a genetic formula somewhere. It sometimes seems luck of the draw, but it really depends on recessive genes and who is carrying what LOL
my sister in law is blonde her husband black haired and they ahd to red haided children!!! they both carried the gene for red hair. I tried to imagine what my baby would look like too.my sister had her baby 4 months before me and I just presumed he would look somewhat like him but perhaps with darker hair. He looked nothing like I thought ecept he ahd a shock of dark hair. But he looked like a composite of myself and my husband, shape of head of dad, eyes like mum sort of thing. my other two were almost clones of the first at birth but gre to look much different over time. I'm sure you'll love what he/she looks like and be amazed and shocked all at the same time at the moment of birth. It's very exciting ...good luick
