I work night shift and I frequently have to wake up programmers to fix code or take a look at automated processes. Generally speaking, many of them are pretty good, but there are some that are entirely rude. Have you ever been in the same situation and really did not want to wake the rude ones up at all? It is just so frustrating! My job requires me to be polite. I try not to be rude back, but sometimes I am.

Presumably this was understood to be part of the job they have voluntarily taken on. Come up with a diplomatic way to remind them of this with wording you are comfortable with.
I work nights in healthcare and have to wake doctors up-I'm not polite so I offer them cheese and crackers to go with their "whine"and that usually works.
Also-I take call six nights/month-this was NOT voluntary or part of the job when I was hired-but if I'm called to come in and work it doesn't make sense to get mad at that person-it wasn't THEIR idea either. This may help you to not be upset by the rude ones and find a way you like to remind them that you don't make the rules.
Lastly-you can always vote with your feet-but if you like the rest of the job that wouldn't be the best choice. Good luck.

Just be nice and try to not let it bother you. I'm a nice person in general, but I'm horrid if woken up before my alarm goes off. I've almost bitten my husband's head off several times because he woke me up over a silly question. Not everyone is at their best when their sleep is broken. I don't mean to be so nasty, I just REALLY like my sleep! When you call, just make sure to get to the point. You know you have to call them, and they know its part of their job to fix things at 2 AM.

I'm rude when awakened, but not rude otherwise. Presumably this is their job, they signed on for it, right. As did you. How's about "I'm really sorry to bother you, but..."

see what you can do for them, say "hey, if you need help at 3am, feel free to call me" let them know that you appreciate their help, and are willing to help them back, if they continue to be rude, they have problems, and will probably not be employed for much longer

Be polite.

and try VERY hard not to waste their time. do your homework first, and learn how to do more yourself.

You will then be respected by the good ones.

good luck,
I know it is hard.
