Also, there is a UBC campus in Kelowna (called UBC-Okanagan), and, in its second or third year as a university, Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. Both UBC-O and TRU are about a 5-hour drive from Vancouver.

As far as I'm aware, those are the only universities in the Vancouver area. There are a number of community colleges. The next closest university is UNBC in Prince George.
Oh yeah and U Vic! That's in Victoria so it's closer than UNBC.
