Aerosmith is America's Greatest Rock -N- Roll Band. The Bad Boys of Boston where and still are the most influential band ever. Nobody rocks harder then Aerosmith. I've seen alot of concerts and heard a million artists but no one even comes close to Aerosmith. Their music just keeps getting better and better every year. Another reason they are the most influential is because their music is used in everything, TV Shows, Commercials and Movies I mean come on, has anyone ever seen Be Cool? The entire movie revolves around Steven Tyler and Aerosmith.

Hard to say who is the best Rock and Roll artist ever.... but who is most influential??? even though I don't care for his music, I think Elvis was probably the most influential Rock and Roll artist.... although it wouldn't be classified as Rock and Roll today.

Tough question. My favorite is probably Iggy Pop - and he was pretty influential in launching the whole punk movement. But most influential would have to be Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley or Bob Dylan. I sort of agree with Bill Haley, but surely NOT Elvis Presley who followed YEARS later! That's my 2 cents.

I hate to vote down Buddy Holly, because that is a great answer. However, Jimi Hendrix showed Eddie Van Halen what is possible. (Joe Satriani played a part, yes I know.) Elvis' "Burnin' Love" was rock 'n' roll to the extreme. (At the time)

I'm going to have to say the Beatles.
Because, they kind of paved the way for so many bands after them.
Really, though, the greatest contribution of the Beatles were the Lennon/McCartney compositions. Just absolutely classic.

Buddy Holly, if you read the bios of the 50 most famous stars from 1960 to 1990, more than half stated Buddy as their greatest influence.
