First of all - PLEASE, don't be offended anyone. Its a real question and something that has bothered me for a long time. I noticed that lot of men working in and around the tourist industry take as friends (and lovers!) ladies from other countries. I somehow got the impression that Islam is against pre-marital affairs? Am I wrong? If not, what could be the explanation for such behaviour? I just couldn't ask those guys ... and probably they wouldn't have answered.
But I love Egypt and her people anyway!

well yea Islam is against premarital relationships in some forms, but what we do doesn't necessarily represent Islam, most ppl in Egypt are not strict about their teachings.

I really like ur questions and it's very valid. It's something I've thought of before myself. Here's what I personally think:
Pre-marital affairs are wrong according to so many religions. Men in Egypt are under so much stress. I'm not offending them, but I lived in Egypt for so long, and I've been to the tourists places to know about this. Young men can't afford to get married and have family. They can't date either because dating and courtship is frowned up. So what can they do? they do the forbidden thing. It's really sad. They would get a job at these tourists' cities to earn money. While they are there, there's no supervision from parents, etc. They like the money and the attention that they get from foreigners. The foreign ladies can openly date, so they don't mind dating an Egyptian guy. Some guys also think that by dating such ladies, they might be able to get visas to other countries and leave Egypt. Sometimes, it's all under the banner "I want a better life, a better future". What's really sad is that some of these guys lose their morals and true beliefs. They get swept by the current.

i love this question, it is open the door to make others know more about this point in Islam and our countries.
the level of pre-marital relation s is really different between the east and west, the standard is different, what could be normal there is not allowed here cause of the traditional and rules of the society and religion.
as example the engagement is very important thing before marriage cause it is the way to have a legal relation between the guy and the girl, this not mean they don't know each other without engagement it is happen in Egypt but couldn't have the legal view in others eyes.
when there are any pre relation happen it is could be kind of normal one with respect and clear between them without the sexual side cause this is the part which is not accepted here, not only from the religion but even it is refused from the society.
Egypt is SO open country cause of the tourism and that is why you can find kind of culture shock inside the country special in the cities which have the high communication with the tourist. i wish you never gave up of loving the country or the people and please try to understand more if u have real love to this country.

I really love ur question, thank u for asking it. Unfortunately, its true that some Egyptian men break religious rules and have pre-marital sex either with foreigners f they work in tourist cities, or if they live in non-tourist cities they do it with "Pros". This is maybe bcoz, marriage is very expensive in Egypt specially these days, and I really don’t know why. So, they automatically go to the easiest solution, which is dating foreigners as they r more liberal than locals. And I have to agree also with the one who said that they might be looking for a foreign marriage as a chance to have a visa abroad. It’s a shame I know, but what can we do??

Premarital relationships are not allowed in Islam nor Christianity as far as i know, that's true. but its like in any other religions, people tend to do the forbidden stuff.

in -Egypt specially in the touristic sector some of them feel that foreign ladies are somehow superior to Egyptian girls and others find it more difficult to enjoy him self with an Egyptian girl. more over getting married in Egypt now is extremely difficult it costs aloooot of money for the man. "personal experience"

one of my friends even told me find a foreign girl its much easier than the complications of Egyptian relationship traditions

yes, Islam is against premarital sex of course. Not every one follows his religion strictly and by the book.
Those men, in my opinion, take lovers from other countries only because the "foreigner woman" has the advantage over the local one in many things, all of those "things" fall in convenience with the style of life he wants for himself at the time.

No, you r not wrongI
t's wrong. What they do is offending. They don't follow the teachings of Islam anyway. Islam doesn't have a "home". it's in the heart, so I believe there could be people who act more muslim than Muslim ones.
U have got a good point anyway. U will see many contradiction here.
Welcome to the famous "love-hate" relationship which connects every Egyptian to his country.

Ceratin things can not be controlled by Islam or Hinduism or any other religion. For your kind information, premarital sex is forbidden by all religions. I do not know about masturbation.

generally they should not have any relationship other than with the one they are married to (meaning no pre marital), but as i have seen in many of the Arab countries it seems they men are not in tune with that notion, maybe its a cultural thing (that men are "allowed" while women not...)
