Hi and congratulations to you both. Because your cousin is already 19 weeks pregnant her HCG levels are too high to detect on a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to test for earlier levels and as your HCG levels double every two days, you can appreciate that your cousins levels have gone off the scale at this stage.. Good luck to you both... :>)

After about 12 weeks of pregnancy, the level of HcG starts to decline so late in pregnancy the test will be negative. The changes in HcG levels is one way that doctors can determine how far along a woman is when the baby is too small to see on an ultrasound or when an ultrasound is not available.

Why didnt she just take her husband with her so her can see the ultrasound, yes you can get a negative test even when you are pregnant, you just cannot get a positive if youa re not, they normally say take 3 tests best out of 3, I never bothered to take one because I know so many people that took them and the test didnt work, I went straight to the docter and got a blood test instead turns out I was 4 weeks at the time... Now 7 yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Best of luck with your babies

The home pregnancy tests can give a negative reading even if someone is pregnant. Which is why they always state to see a doctor if the symptoms continue. The tests will give a negative reading when someone is pregnant, but will never give a positive reading for someone who isn't pregnant
