It is pointless to ask questions like this. There are 100s of American universities that have distinguished programs in some area of science. Some of them are in the Ivy league, and some are public universities.

What science are you talking about -- archeology, astronomy, biology, chemistry all the way up to zoology. There are scores of disciplines and many school are excellent in one or two of them. You must choose the area of science you are interested in, and then look for schools that are good in that area. And I dont think the word "best" comes into it. You could be at a medium level school with a great professor, or at a high level school with a guy who is a butthead. What good will it do you to be in the best school then?

Try to have a more realistic view of how the academic world works.

The question is too broad. Which science? I mean which branch of science--biology, chemistry, physics, natural science, computer science, engineering, aeronautics, anthropology, astronomy etc., There are many of the Ivy League universities that have fine science majors in their School of Science.
