not sure but maybe lilian thuram? he comes across as very learned/ intelligent in his interviews, philosophical even. he once said he planned to be a priest before football came calling so maybe he studied theology or something. i'm just guessing, lol.

Most likely it is American Football players. Most European and Asian players play on semi-pro junior teams during and right after high school and then go to professional teams. Whereas American players go to university and play soccer there before going on to professional teams.
Also soccer is the third most played sport in the United States behind Basketball and Volleyball. So for American football being the best sport ever there seems to be a falling interest in actually playing it.

most of the good players were too poor to get an education....so football was their education

No not in england, it is not or was not considered a gentlemans sport. Unversities opted for the game of rugby, which is a contact sport. Was a big advantage to play for a University team
This was before USA was discovered.

Americans cuz they have to get into a university in order to reach professional football/soccer leagues.

offensive linemen seem to be the best educated (IMHO, and no, I wasn't an O-lineman). they also have the longest careers of any position (other than kickers or punters) in the game.

most of the american players get tru university before going pro, but in my oppinion they should really stay in the universities and go to grad school cause their game is as good as a steaming bowl of elephant piss.
