you want to gain muscle not fat so i suggest eating a healthy diet with plenty of protein that will help muscle development. You are never to old to go to the gym. I suggest going to see your GP first to test your blood pressure and make sure your heart and lungs are fine. If he gives you the all clear go and sign up at the gym. The people at the gym should develop a specific exercise routine with muscle development in mind. (just let them know that's what you want to do) and if you got the cash to spare i suggest getting a personal trainer (often available through the gym) who will help you reach your goal faster. remember to let them know of any old injuries etc. My only word of warning is don't push yourself to fast...if you haven't exercised in awhile and you are underweight your body can only tolerate so much exercise and intensity...work your way up to a good exercise regime. You will be looking great in no time.

There is no particular age for gaining weight. If you dont have any disease like Tuberculosis, hyperthyroidism etc then there is nothing to worry eat healthy food and exercise.if you are unable to eat in one go,eat multiple times a day.keep yourself relaxed dont get tensed.
