I'm getting disgusted reading these NFL is rigged posts. I don't think there's any way. Let me know what you think, either way.

All I know is that if the NFL is rigged, Dennis Green wins best actor at next year's academy awards.

"THESE GUYS ARE EXACTLY WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!"

the games aren't rigged, but you can see a bias on the parts of officiating crews that favor 1 team or the other. and let's be honest, the nfl thrives on storylines they can use to hype upcoming games, so I'm sure with a wink & a nod, they look the other way as games get called so a particular team wins.

It's because the Saints had a decent season. It came at the wrong time for the country. No one likes the Cinderella teams. Everyone is mad since the Steelers and Eli sucked. Vick had a bad season (much to the sportswriters' suprise). All the teams that were suppossed to win didn't.

But there is no way in heck the NFL is rigged. The Saints are for real. Go Saints!!!!!!!!!

I do sometimes wonder about the officials. Some of their calls do seem questionable. But they're suppossed to know what they're doing. If you think you can do better I'd like to see you try. I'm a soccer referee, and it's hard to make every call right. If you think you can do better then go try.

It's impossible that they are all not rigged. That is different from being pre-determined or everyone in on the rigging but there is way too much money and organized crime involved with that money to prevent them from attempting to rig a game with at least one player, even a minor player can pull up lame and be the weak link in the chain. If you follow the point spreads you will witness some incredibly unusual decisions toward the end of the game on occasion, some of those are rigged. Even paying off that one player may not do it every time, but it will 7 or 8 times out of ten and that's all you need when you're laying money on the line. If they weren't rigged, you would hear public stories of mafia guys approaching marginal players more often and those players refusing and reporting it, these stories are hushed up because they don't want the public to blow it out of proportion 1 million times worse than it is.

Betting should be legalized nationally and controlled and monitored by the government or indpendent watchdog. I guarantee some people lose infrequently, especially when they have the biggest amounts of money on it.

Oh, give me a break! You want rigged? Look at the Red Sox World Series win followed by the White Sox World Series win just as the Steroids scandal was heating up. Heck, the only reason the Cubbies didn't win the next year is that Selig figured it would be too obvious. The Panthers simply got outplayed. They came in thinking the Cardinals didn't belong on the field with them. As it turns out, they were right. The Cardinals deserve to be on the field with the Giants or Eagles; and the Panthers deserve to be sitting at home next weekend.

The playoffs sure seem fixed lately. I think they have teams they want to make the playoffs and they go from there IF it is fixed. It would be too hard to fix the whole regular season. As to Green that wasn't acting. That was pure anger at his team, which was who he was talking to. Hopefully after today we do "... Crown them already."

Oh and to the one who said about the Steelers, I won't say about offsides BUT if you watched this year there were CLEARLY calls that went against them that WEREN'T fair. If you watched all season you could see some that were that way. My thought is that as the Champions there was some biased against them.

OK to the comment about that it COULDN'T be fixed. Explain Neil O'Donnell in Superbowl 30. What he suddenly thought that Larry Brown was really a Steeler? As to calls will be corrected by other officals OR replay, why did the NFL have to apoligize for the refs trying to cost the Steelers that game against the Colts in the playoffs? The NFL rarely apoligizes let alone for the playoffs. They DID have to in that game though. That was a call made on replay, easiest way to rig a call. Only the replay offical has a say. There is also no way to question the call with replay. If you DON'T think it happens then you need to look closer.

The NFL is definitely not rigged!
#1 The money these guys are paid are in the Millions. The key ball handlers are paid ridiculous cash. How much would it take to get Peyton Manning or LaDainian Tomlinson to deliberately lose a game and lose that $100 Million contract?
#2 There are always other guys waiting to get that high paid high profile gig. Everything these guys do is on tape! Including the officials.
#3 The performance of the coaches, referees, and players are critiqued weekly and substandard performance is rewarded with a firing or player being cut.
#4 Unlike all the other sports leagues the NFL contract is performanced based not garunteed. They can tear up a players contract anytime they want and the team owes them nothing! Screw up bad enough and they can take every dime they ever paid you back! Ask Rickey Williams

Anybody who thinks the NFL is fixed is a moron! The only chance is to payoff a referee, but a bogus call can be over-turned either by another official or by replay!

All games are reviewed both by the teams & the League. Referees who make phantom calls are reprimanded or fired and every player can see who is doggin it during film study! Bet your azz that player won't get away with that!!

A player tanking a game will be benched before he can really impact the game. Then he'll be cut afterwards. hey screwing up on National Television is not what any of those guys wanna be remembered for. Typically they all are ultra competitive and their reflexes are what got them there in the first place. Hey I said REFLEXES. That mean it is something hard to turn off even if you tried to intentionally lose a game.

There are only 70 QBs in the NFL and hundreds looking to get in. There is no job security because the competition is fierce. A guy who makes a roster will get paid a minimum of $350,000. Where else can you get that kind of money? Your only Real Chance to fix a game is to Bribe either
a. A QB
b. A CB
c. A WR
d. A RB
However those are the highest paid positions in football. Anybody hoping to pull that off would need to cough up a minimum of $10 Million dollars and the team could still win with his paid off player. CLEARLY THE BOOKIES WOULDN'T EVEN MAKE THAT GAMBLE!

As far as bias?? Thats just sour grapes! Every true fan has felt screwed by the refs meaning that the league is on the up and up.

Raider Fan! Its called the "Tuck Rule" hence the key phrase is Rule!! If you remember that play so vividly then you'd have noticed that a Raider Player actually hit Tom Brady in the head on that play. They're lucky that the Ref missed that during the confusion other wise not only would the Patriots have gotten the Ball, but a 15 yard penalty tuh boot!

Not, rigged. I agree, sports in General are biased to certain teams and players by both officials and the league. That's the human element of the game.

I agree, definitely not rigged; and as for the guys who complain about officiating biases, stand in line. Officials make bad calls and sometimes they are game changing calls, but to say your team is targeted by officials is ridiculous. I have friends that are fans of many teams and I've heard almost all of them ***** about their team (insert name here) being falsely penalized on purpose by officials who hate their team. The most bitched about, concerning an official bias against, by my friends during NFL sunday ticket(we have 2 tvs side by side and friends over every Sunday): Cowboys--it's always the officials fault when they lose; Raiders--they just suck and officials couldn't make them any worse, so I don't understand this one; Broncos--someone holds every play while the Broncs. are on offense, yet no one else notices it; Steelers--they should never be called for an off side penalty. Least bitched about: Lions--my boy knows they suck and makes no bones about it, but it's his team and sticks with them.

For a fact, they are not rigged. However, it is biased. If you want proof then watch a Raiders game. I agree with you but, as a Raiders fan, i know first hand that refs tend to favor one team over another.

Raiders fans crack me up,if your team was that good then why didnt they regroup and go on to win 2 super bowls after the tuck rule as for being rigged I dont think so but Im sure ther are the occasional payoffs to players but with 11 people on each side of the field highly unlikely that its rigged
