Depends on which part of India because India is a vast country with varied climatic zones. In south, you dress like beginning summer clothing because it is more tropical. Sweaters are not required but suggested to be carried. In the north, sweaters are required in evenings and late nights. I suggest you take normal casual clothing jeans tshirt shirts and trousers. Take a sweater.

Interestingly, many clothings available here in US are made in India and Pakistan. You can also buy great quality clothing from local showrooms for the money you would otherwise spend here in buying them.

February is a good month for visiting India. The weather will be very friendly, moderately cool with plenty of Sun shine. All you need is light woolen if you visit north India otherwise Cotton is ideal.
