I think they hate it because they think they need to force their views on others, and democracy doesn't let them do that.
The leaders of the jihadists don't kill themselves. They send others out to die for them. The leaders hide in holes and make plans to spread hate. They even teach children to want to grow up to be a martyr rather than to build thier own country.
They won't be happy. They might think they can gain happiness by converting everyone to their religion, or by killing all who are in their way.
Some of them rightly point out immorality in the West, but some of the 9/11 terrorists had lap dances just before doing their murders, so I don't think they have made a good case that they really were doing their evil deeds for God.

I think our lifestyle has very little to do with their actions.
We all should remember that even basically good people can be led into the dark with the proper motivation, targeted propaganda and the right leader.
If anyone had asked me after the first gulf war, if the US would invade a sovereign country without a military provocation of some type, I would have called them crazy.
But 9/11, WMD, etc and here we are occupying Iraq based solely on non-intelligent intelligence.
Reverse rolls for a minute.
How many of us would be working for, or supporting the insurgency if the US was the second Christian country invaded by a Muslim superpower?
I would be doing everything in my power to defeat the intruders. I don't believe how they lived in their country would matter much to me.

I would like to say the word "jihad" has a very different meaning then people think. When someone is doing something in the way of the lord, more so if it is a struggle, this is their jihad. I have a better description but it is not at my fingertips right now.
People that are not following the will of God or the path are being misguided. You can not kill thousands of innocent people that never even heard of or given the chance to hear of "God" and say it is ok.
Unfortunetly there are muslims who are misguided and do not "READ" which is the first word Angel Gabriel told the prophet. If you do not inform your self or ask to "see" the answer you are not doing your homework. Islam believes strongly in education and knowledge and most these "bad people" just follow the ruling of another, they do not ask for the proof but go blindly.
So do these bad people hate American lifestyle? I can say there is a fine line between love and hate. I do not think these "bad people" no enough about us. They only here what they are allowed to hear the same with us. If you think are media tells us everything you are crazy. Go to Democracy now and go to the Mosaic (sp) site. Watch a news clipping that is not edited you will be surprised as to what you here and see.

They hate our men but love our blonde women. They envy this country because we have done more in 230 years that they can only dream of. So they bombed our buildings to TRY to destroy or make an impact of our lives. And they hurt a lot of my people and did make an inpact on America.
That is why we need to wage war on countries that look at us the wrong way.
It is the duty of every American to stand up for this country and defend it, in my opinion.
Even if it means going aginst your political grain. Because it doesent matter to the vermin weather or not you are REP or DEM to them you the American are the enemy. They know it. Do you know them ?? Prob. not many out there are so concerned about being oh so politically correct.
So I would like to wish every America hater a hearty F UCK YOU>

To be perfectly honest I do not believe that Jihadists care about America's lifestyle one way or another. Their feud is primarily a religious one and they are Muslim fanatics who fight for the Islamic faith. If they die in this fight then they go to heaven where 72 pure, beautiful virgins wait for them to cater to their every whim. They truly believe this to be true. It is so written in their holy Qu'ran. The section on Jihad in the Qu'ran is very revealing and if you read it (translated, of course) then hold on to your hat. You will not believe what Mohammud had to say about Jihad, Christians and Jews, plus additional commentary on why everyone should be a Muslim, excuse me, I should have said MUST BE a Muslim.

The Quran teaches Muslims to hate and destroy our lifestyle, but
left to their own devices, it's obvious they usually prefer it. Jihadists are those that legitimize their acts of murder on any given day or cause in the name of Islam. Additionally, it teaches them to Convert, Tax, and/or Kill ALL non-Muslims.
GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!

Jihadists are ordinary religious people being twisted by their Mullahs. Mullah's control of the people will be gone. People will recognize upon "American lifestyle" that they are being fooled by their Mullahs. Wake up people and stop being misdirected.

I am leaning towards envy which makes them hateful.
The terrorists were also hypocrites. There are reports of them watching the girls in bikinis on a Fla. beach and negotiating prices with hookers the night before the suicide attack on the world trade center. (So I guess not only hypocrites but also stupid...hello, they knew they were committing suicide in the morning)

Bush has often said that Jihadists are fighting America because they "hate our freedoms". I have never heard of a war being fought for such a reason, but this explanation must have tested well with Republican focus groups.
