If you're a 13 year old emo kiddie and think you have the most important news to share with the world, then by all means its completely useful.

Otherwise it's a waste of system resources, bandwidth, time and energy.

MySpace is simply another open-ended, free online social networking community. It's like the swiss-army knife of online social networking sites; complete with photos, music, and highly customizable interfaces and profiles.

Is it useful? It depends on what you mean by "useful".
If you are searching for a fully customizable, popular social networking site with all sorts of bells and whistles (blogs, music, pictures, etc.), and don't want to spend any money to network with friends and potential friends, then go for it.

On the gripping hand, if you are paranoid about stalkers or child molesters, or are yourself a child (defined as anyone 18 and under), then look elsewhere. The site has a bad rap, and it's for a good reason. It's very open-ended, which may be its primary flaw with regards to personal security. If you do use it, use common sense and do not disclose personally identifiable information unless you are communicating with a trusted friend or acquaintance. If you are a child, do not mis-represent yourself as an adult to find more dates; likewise if you are an adult, do not solicit yourself in a dating context or otherwise to a child.

Almost anything can be potentially useful. It's up to you to determine how useful it is, and whether or not there's a better way to do what you want to do. Just use your own best judgement and logic.

MySpace is a brilliant example of user-generated, content-driven web 2.0 online services. It is simply a social networking site where you set up your own page and customize it with video, music, templates, information (typically about yourself) and add friends who have their own 'space'.

I use it to plan nights out with my friends. Pretty much everyone on my friends list is someone I know in real life so it a good way to plan a party or trip without having to call each person and having them have to call each other.
