I bought a copy some years ago hoping to read it but, I agree with Xamanator, it is not easy to read him since he wrote like a professor (he graduated from Oxford) and thus we need some solid good backgrounds on his great military mission. However, I hope to read when I've more free time and there's a wonderful movie starring Peter O'Toole I watched some 40 years ago. I wonder if there's any film version on DVD, if so it should help you understand more while reading the book.

I think you mean the autobiographical account of T. E. Lawrences' ("Lawrence of Arabia") experiences while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
The title comes from the book of proverbs 9:1.

He wanted to call it something else but had the 7 pillars title handy from a poem of his and used that.
I've always found it unreadable.
