I want to model and I had found an young artist and a an art student who would like me to model for them, both with cloths and nude. I have never done this before, so I want to know how I should ask them to write the contract, what things I should ask them to write down ... Can anybody help ? Thank you so much.

Hi there, got your email. Yepperdo has the right advise for you. If i were you, I would spend the few dollars and go to a local legal aid service and have them draw up a typical contract that you can make copies of and have your clients sign. Different jobs will require different hours and length of committment...these things should be agreed upon between you and the artist, written down, dated and signed by both parties and it wouldn't hurt to have it notarized and then kept in a safe place. Be sure that the artist is reputable and not some wingnut. Always, always, give an address, name, phone number, and times that you will be modeling for a one on one job, and give that information to a good friend or family member so that they can contact you or at least call you once during your *break* during the session to make sure you are safe. This may sound silly but it is not. Do not ask the artists to write the contracts. You write down your requirements and give them a copy so that they know your limits. Good luck hon.

I've drawn nudes before, but honestly don't know what goes into a posing contract. But, I'm a fairly intelligent nitwit, so here's some advice:

It would be a good idea to talk to figure drawing instructors at local universities that work with nudes & pick their brains.

You should just tell the artist how much you're worth per hour. Take control...have some say. I do know that the girls & guys I've drawn nude were paid at least $50 for a 2.5hr session at a college. That was about 7 yrs ago. If you can hold the pose, ask $40 per hr clothed and $50
nude. Again, find out what the rates are at universities...it's only a phone call & that'll give you a good idea.

Modeling for drawings is tough. Ya gotta realize that they'll be asking you to hold a pose for a couple hours. It's alot tougher than it sounds...try holding the same pose for three minutes.

However, I can totally understand you wanting some rules, guidlines...basically rights in place before you get there. Have them put down, in writing, how many days you'll pose, how many hrs per day, breaks, changing facilities, etc., and your rates.

Above all, be careful! I strongly advise having a close, strong, slightly manical friend go with you...just to make sure. As it happens, I'm 2 out of three of those things. So, if you're in the 14207 area...I only charge $10 bouncer fee per hr :o)

I would consult an attorney who deals in contract law. Get in writing terms and fees for what they can and can't require you to do and what fees get paid for each.
