This might seem a little weird to some of you but I was wondering if you knew what could be going on with my boobs. After I took a shower today and while I was drying off I noticed that there was like hard white stuff coming out of the things that are on the dark part of my boobs. Not the nipple but the dark round spot. It's not a lot just a little bit. It reminds me of a pimple. I took some swezers and kept pulling the stuff out. My boobs have been sore for a while now. I don't know what's going on and I am a little concerned. I don't really have any one else I can ask. So if you can help that would be great. If you have any idiea what it might be or what I can do to help it I would be really thankful. Thanks alot.

Thanks a lot for all of your help. And thanks for not being mean or rude. Well except for eventchef and I know it all. You two should really grow up. How would you know if it's because I don't shower or not? Do you know from exsperieance or something. Oh and yes I do shower thank you.

Those are called Montgomery's Tubercules. That hard white stuff is a kindof hardened sweat/breastmilk type thing (yes, sweat and breastmilk are very similar). The dark round spot is called an areola. Don't squeeze them. How long have your breasts been sore? You are asking this question in pregnancy and so I assume that you know that sore breasts can be a sign of pregnancy. Breasts that are sore, are sore for a reason and you need to be seen by a doctor. Make an appointment on Monday and leave your breasts alone (no squeezing).

Bumps on areola
If you worry about those 'funny bumps' on the areola, those are supposed to be there; they are called Montgomery glands or areolar skin glands. Their function is partially unknown, but scientists suppose they are there to lubricate the nipple/areola area.
These Montgomery glands can be about unnoticeable, OR stand out as bumps on the areola. They often become more prominent during pregnancy. Also, it appears they are white in some women.
Some women have squeezed them and can get a white substance out, but please do NOT squeeze them because that causes them to become infected.
In one study, it was noted that women with more areolar glands had better or more optimal breastfeeding start after delivery. They also noted that the glands were seen in virtually all women in the study but with great interindividual variations; their areolar distribution was nonrandom, and about 1/5 of the women had glands giving off a secretion (this is about women who have just given birth).

It's possible that you had a pimple, but there are small bumps around the areola that are supposed to be there. They're called Montogmery glands, and they secrete a substance that keeps your nipples and areolas clean and sanitary for breastfeeding.
Are you currently pregnant or breastfeeding? If so, it could've been a milk blister, or a milk duct that leads to the areola instead of through the nipple, as normal.

It could be like a build up of dead skin cells. The area of the nipple is like pores...that is where breast milk can come from. IF you are not pregnant you need to exfoliate as you would anywhere else on your body. If you ARE pregnant be very careful messing around with your breast because nipple stimulation can ans does cause your body to go into labor. If you are truly concerned about this and ARE pregnant be sure to bring it to the attention of your O.B., that way he/she can tell you whether or not you should be worried...
Good Luck!!

This is very, very normal. The areolae (round parts) have lots of oil glands in order to lubricate the nipple when you breast feed.
These oil glands clogs pores just like any other place on your body. I don't think it hurts to get the gunk out, but it certainly won't benefit you at all. Just wash them with warm water and gentle soap when you're in the shower.

I have the same thing. I believe it is just normal secretions. Mine are like big pores on your nose. If you squeeze them stuff WILL come out. Don't worry. I have used a skin cleansing soap on my chest and boobs. It helped.

My advice to you is that whenever you run into something in your life with your body that just doesn't seem right, go to the doctor. I don't even know what to tell you it might be, why were you picking at it if you didn't know either, you can do some serious damage sometimes by doing that. See your doc asap, to make sure everything is alright.

I remember that happened to me once when I was a lot younger. It turned out to be nothing...I don't remember exactaly what the doc said it was, but it was no biggie. You could have an infection.....since this is in pregnancy, are you pregnant? It could be colostrum or milk....
