its not congress. its the states who put a smoking ban ballet to a vote. phoenix, az will be smoke free in may in public paces.personally, when it comes to the ban in public restaurants and bars, i say if you don't want it, don't go there. there are plenty of places that are smoke free, or its only in the bar.

Not for sure how many states but quite a few...In Ohio they just banned it but don't know how to in-force it. Tobacco does make a whole lot of money, but there is a whole lot of money forcing the issue of banning it as well. As far as it being a good thing, i don't agree. Lets say you own a bar, and you also smoke. Tell me why the government has a right to tell you, you cant go to your own establishment and have a beer and a cig. It should be up to the business owner not the government telling them what they can do in there place. When the idea came up in Ohio it shut down Cincinnati main entertainment district all the clubs, and bars went to Kentucky. Now Cincinnati has no form of night life. I

I know Ohio has. And while I totally understand non-smokers not wanting to be around smoke, I think our ban is excessive and silly. You can't smoke in a CIGAR BAR. What non-smoker goes into an establishment like that? What non-smoker would work in one? I have no problem being shoved off to the side to keep my habit away from others, but that's just retarded.

Smokers have rights too! We are people first!! Second hand smoke isn't killing you.. Give me a break! All those car fumes are killing you, and putting holes in the ozone, not smokers!!! Some people just have to have something to whine about!

California....Washington. I know these two for sure. Many towns have banned smoking in any place of business. Austin, TX is one. In Seattle you not only smoke in a place of business you have to be 25 Ft. from the door to light up..which in downtown Seattle would put you out in the street....At $5.00 a pack I don't know why anyone would want to smoke. My mother died of emphysema...weighed 89 lbs. when she died while sucking for breath...No Thanks !!!
