Some of the people are asking are involved in Wikipedia.
Also Wikipedia makes it quite clear, as does Yahoo answers, that you aren't guaranteed of getting the right answer. There is a controversy that Wiki's are giving information that is false, or misleading. The one that grabbed my attention was a history teacher complaining about the inaccurate representations of American and European histories.
Because some of the people who write wikis don't have to study a version of American History that is pre-approved by the American government. Or British approved English history. People in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, anywhere the British empire used to reign supreme, would have more than a SLIGHTLY different version of the history of the British Empire occupying their nations than might be taught in London or Brighton or Liverpool.
Because the subject is so.. ahem... subjective.
Neither the Yahoo answers nor Wikipedia answers nor anybody's answers are the be-all and end-all of The Supreme Authority To Answer Questions (imagine a basso thundering echo at the end of Questiooooonnnnnnsssss.....)
And really no subject is above debate. Which is the whole theory behind all fora.
(that last is a plural of the Latin word Forum, although some would debate that)
Relax, dude, it's COMMUNICATION, which benefits all mankind.

I figured it was due to incompetence or laziness. Let's keep it real...we've all seen the general public. Y! Answers is the general public.
There was a study and accompanying news article last year that evaluated the "correctness" of wikipedia articles vs. Encyclopedia Britannica articles vs. what scientists have to say, and apparently wikipedia was correct as often as Encyclopedia Britannica.
Of course this is shady with my heresay because I can't even find the link to post you the article. It was maybe last June or so.

You do realize that Wikipedia is basically information that comes from people all over, don't you? Kind of like Yahoo Answers..... Get it?
One grocery store or the other has the same can of corn. What difference does it make where a person gets it?

A personal opinion. Just to "talk" to someone. It's more fun.
