I have been dating a girl these past two years. She has accepted my wish to marry her but our situation currently doesnt allow it. Also there has been something bugging me and she knows about it. I just have this feeling like someone is waiting for me in Japan. I dont know how to say it but that is what something inside says.

Anyways should I just stay by my current girlfriends side and marry her as soon as I can. Or ask her to wait till after I get back from Japan. I'll be going around augest 2008, and returning a year or two later. Letting her know that if I do not find this person I shall be hers and only hers, and meaning it. But I just feel like I have to be in Japan on my 21st year. I don't know why or when I decided this. Before I even met my girlfriend. But it is something I have felt for a long time. I love my girlfriend and totally want to marry her. I love everything about her. No matter how annoyed I get with her I love her. What should I do?

Just to update some, some of you are already saying I doubt our love, I dont. We are fully capable of being with eachother for the rest of our lives and love eachother and always being faithful. While she feels that I could be the only one for her, I just feel that I have to try this one thing. Not because I want to hurt her or question or love. But because I feel some other connection that has been strong for a long time and I am not sure what it is. So I have to go and find out. But should I or would I lose out on something good if Im just chasing after a feeling.

Japan is like your security blanket. Drop it. Stay with your women and don't put her through all that crap! It's disrespectful and cruel. If you just can't get past this Japan thing, take her with you. Find out together. We're talking about a life long commitment here and you can't just throw it away because of some red herring in your head.

I think you should always follow a feeling or you will always regret it, however, why do you think that your feeling to go to Japan is for a person? Perhaps its something else, a job, finding a relative, or enlightenment? Why don't you take your girl with you to Japan and discover it together? It will bring you closer or break you apart forever, but that is going to happen one way or the other anyway! Take Care Heather

Quite frankly, if you don't absolutely think she's the one for you, don't marry her. You'll only be ruining both of your lives.

I say go to Japan and confirm what's happening with this other connection. If you're having these feelings now, putting a piece of metal around each others' fingers and signing some paper isn't going to change them.

Well, if you tell her that she needs to wait untill you return from japan and you don't find this person she might say or think, if you loved me you would marry me right away and there'd be no other woman but follow your heart

Marry her you fool. If you ask her to wait she will leave you. There is no one there for you in Japan.
