It's 1:45 am and I'm flipping channels. I've just come across 24, a favorite show of mine. It's from season 3, I believe. But why is it on CBS? It's a Fox show, it's still airing new today, it's extremely profitable. Why is it showing on a competitor's channel, even if it IS early early morning? It's really strange to me.

24 is a syndicated show, which means it can be sold in a open market (to other stations). on the cbs channel past seasons episodes are shown, usually on the weekends. fox continues to show the season premiere and newest episodes. the show makes money on whatever channel it is shown. for many people late night or early morning is the only time they can view the show.
i could not "get" what 24 was about on its regular channel and time slot. but catching it on cbs and a season behind...the show has hooked me. ours is not to reason why, but to enjoy the experience. that jack bauer is some kinda' wonderful don't you think?

It's syndicated now so they must have bought the rights. If it helps they probably payed a pretty penny to FOX. =)
It's one of my favorite shows too.

It isn't airing on CBS in my area. If it is in your area, then your local CBS affiliate's Program Director made that decision.
