Ok, I dont know where the other poster got his information....but not from Medical School (where Im going) and being a Nurse (which I am).

A Pap Smear tests for abnormal cells of the cervix. Thats it. It doesnt check for HPV. It doesnt check for Pregnancy. Its just a scraper with cells that are sent for cytology. Thats it.

A doctor will do a urine pregnancy test and/or a blood test for confirmation of his original diagnosis of pregnancy, but never does either test conclusive enough for a diagnosis.

So when he did the pelvic exam and the bimanual, he was able to see the position of the uterus and the changing shape of the cervix. The uterus will 'thicken' in appearance when pregnancy happens. So all the doctor has to do is feel the uterus and he knows youre pregnant.

NO, your doctor cannot tell from a pap smear and regulary exam that a woman is pregnant. The first poster has NO idea what they are talking about...makes me laugh. You can only tell through a blood test.

You cant' tell whether you're pregnant or not just by doing a smear test, but by feeling the cervix yes, 'cause the cervix dilates when you're pregnant !!!
