Exactly, this is what happened to Gandhi. Let us congratulate Shilpa for handling it with courage and digmity.

This is not remotely equivalent to what happened to Gandhi. Gandhi never sobbed, he fought for his cause. Shilpa sobbed and the Brits and Indians did the fighting for her. She could have done more than just sob and ride the sympathy wave to harvest votes. If she had given a dignified answer, and maybe lost later(minute possibility), i would have held her in greater esteem. Not that it would have made her equal to Gandhi in any sorts, but she would have been deemed a person with a spirit.

Comparing Gandhi to a brainless bimbo? She had gone there to make a fast buck for God's sake. She couldn't have been altogether unaware of the attacks that could be targeted at her. And when confronted with that horrible reality, she didn't take it head on or leave the show, but started to cry. She didn't fight an inch. The people of India fought for her. And she gained undue mileage in the process. Shabani Azmi would have done far better, if she were in Shilpa's seat.
