To get the background to stay there as you scroll you need to make sure the code says fixed, not scroll.
To customize your myspace, if you don't know much about HTML/CSS, I suggest using a layout generator...
Just go to google and type in Myspace Layout Generators and you'll get a whole bunch to choose from.
To personalize the contact table, again just go to google and type in Myspace Contact Tables.
