You can start a web business EASY!! You can do it for sure.
All you have to do is have a product (aka-your clothes that you designed), get a website, and make sure that people know what your the name of your site is, what you sell, and how good you are!
As for becoming a designer and going to skool, I don't know much about that. I'd say that you should Google it and see what you find.
Good Luck! =~)

Majority of bridal companies have showrooms at 1385 Broadway New York, NY but first you need an education in design or liberal arts college.
An apprenticeship with a design firm might me a start. Get a WWD Paper (Women's Wear Daily) . It has ads in the back for help wanted in ladies apparel.
I do stress education first, because always have a plan B. Good luck.. Education and building a Resume' is very important. The harder you work at something the luckier you get.

Join a Design school.
Take up Fashion designing in schools.
Keep creating for others even if for free. it may take off that way. Will be noticed. Then start charging a bit and more next time.
Is a long, hard work; unless you get into one of those "shows" to compete. Or if it catches someone's eyes.
All the best.

get a portfolio, get into a design school. then go from there. your career can last your entire life. if you mean the school length, that differs, but is probably about 4 yrs, like any other. can you draw? measurements? things like that.
