Having trouble unplugging the speed sensor from the electrical socket under the gas tank.?

I unfastened the back part of the tank from the frame and can get my hands on the connector but am unable to get the two apart.
I can't feel where the little plastic release is, and I don't have a manual. Any clues?

I'm guessing that this is a motorcycle? You didin't mention what make/model you have.
Also, before you remove the sensor, spray some PB Blaster around it to make it easier to remove.
