It usually depends on the level of service received; but typically you should tip between 15-20% of the total bill.

at least 20%. You should know that the minimum wage for waiter/waitresses is less than the minimum wage for other jobs to account for the tips they get.

usually 20% or more. I hate tips b/c i feel obligated to. Did you know some restaurants don't even pay their employees minimun wage, so it's like i'm paying the waiter to work. I would like to be able to tip b/c i had good service not b/c it's common courtesy

where i live - the service is mandatory and included in the bill - so the waiter/waitress gets zero.
the bar/restaurant then share the cash with all staff including kitchen staff - which is sort of fairer

I always leave about 20%. If there's some sort of problem, I drop it down closer to 10%
I've never had anything go so badly that I didn't tip at all.

20% and up. I know they depend on their tips to get by. I am not a waitress nor have I ever wanted to be one.

i think Ms. Manners would tell you that 10% is the exact amount you will be giving to a waitress or a waiter...... i do follow it most of the time....
