Some people actually are ADDICTED to drama. The emotional rush they get from a dramatic situation makes them feel good.
The problem is....they're not like the rest of us!
Unless you LOVE the DRAMA, just stay out of it. Don't try to help, don't let them talk with you about it, don't even listen to it! If you do they'll suck you in and you'll never get out.
All you have to say is: I'm sorry, but I can't do this with you. You'll have to find someone else to vent with because I can't help you.

it should not be your job to help them with whatever sort of drama they choose to be in: it is their life, not your life.

now: your life. look at yourself. ask yourself if you respect yourself. see if you love yourself. if you do, why is it that you allow yourself to get wrapped up in another's drama?

some people were exposed to The Drama inside of their childhood, so they are used to it. they don't know how to act without it. it is normal to them. but when you love yourself, even if that had been in your past, you shed yourself of anything that can hurt you. you simply step out of the situation.

let them get counseling. let them go to NA, AA, whatever it is that will help them. what you can do is give them a note that states what you see them doing. you can say you like/love them, but that you cannot be inside of them, therefore, you cannot change their lives. it is up to them. you can only suggest what you believe may help them, but you must convey that the job is up to them, not to you.

you were given life. somehow you were born, not a sibling. the way i see it, each one of us is an utter miracle. so then, the next thing is that we are human beings. we have large brains and we have willpower. and then comes this: since life is special, don't we owe it to ourselves to care for our health? if you are trying to resolve someone else's drama, you are not watching out for your own health. you are only making your life more complex than it needs to be.

let them do what it takes. keep yourself healthy. life is short.
