Americans are people who love to tell you what they think with out fear of the Law oh I'm sorry that was the old Americans use to be now we have to fear what people say we don't want them to be hurt any more because we might go to jail or have some one throw rocks or bottles at us or take us to court to be sued . you ask me of characteristics of Americans they have change so much we don't know who we are.

Which ones? As most people today use the word, "American" is just a fancy word for a human, any human, who holds US citizenship. The modern US is an empire, a vast imperial state ruling over myriad tribes. Many of these tribes are united only by their mutual loathing; most exist in blissful ignorance of the huge range of cults, cultures, and sub-cultures that walk around loose in (what they imagine) is their society. The whole crazy patchwork is held together only by money supplemented when necessary by the force and fraud of the ruling elite.
I notice, most of your respondants have described the White middle-class. Fair enough; they at least are the descendants of the people who created America. That however doesn't change the fact that for better and for worse, middle-class Whites no longer define the culture or politics of the USA.
So... Whose charactoristics?

Regarding some of the posts I've read, I want to say that you can find greedy, selfish, fat, ignorant people in any country. So of course you'll find people like that in the US. It's too difficult to make a set of characteristics that define everyone accurately, because it varies alot depending on the cultures and locations within the nation.

Well.......I know them, that much I do know.I have family born there...and have lived there.No I am not American.
So
What do I think main Characteristics? of Americans.
to me!
A tad over confident.
A tad over the top.
May not fully understand that the world does not rotate,just around them.
They do have wonderful manners.
They do have a lot of power
They do have more than others

most americans speak spanish, drive a $500 car and put $4000 worth of body work on it and still it has a primer paint job. they work for landscape companies and share a 2 bedroom house with 15 other people.they make babies like cockroaches and dont have legal citizenship.
