FDR means Fixed Deposit Receipts, in which we keep a fixed amount of money with the banks for a certain period and at the maturity they pay us back the amount along with the interest. No it do not relate to foreign exchange matters. The term which relates to foreign exchange is FIRC, which means Foreign Inwards Registration Certificate, it is usaully required when you get an amount into the counrty from a foreign country.

FDR = Fixed Deposit Receipt.
When we deposit any amount for a fixed time ,the bank issue us a FDR.
