that is a dilema that forever boggles the world of the philosophical;..
define the Mind...
IMPOSSIBLE
define the Heart?
Is it that which pumps blood? or that which feels the man-made emotions of love, hate, jealousy, and doubt? Is it a symbol of our compassion?
If you answer THIS....call your philosophy professor...your a Millionaire...
OH ... and for you pretentious FOOLS who think you are MORE intellectual than .. say...PLATO...who devoted his ENTIRE BEING to understanding of the Soul...
so..whoever you are....you are NOT Plato
...or Socrates....
Or even ...say ...
ME....so get over yourself....and grow up....

Emotions are in both. There is no concrete answer, but the idea I believe to be most true is that emotions are both a mental and physical reaction. When we are in love, or pain, or sad, our brains tell us. But also, our bodies react to things: our stomachs tighten, our heart beats fast, we feel tried. Our minds see these things our body does and attributes them to emotion as well. For example, I'm more likely to feel desperately in love if I've recently aerobically worked to exhaustion, more likely to feel depressed when tired. You may not ever truly be able to find your emotions unless you know what you're looking for: something no one can really do. No matter what it is, emotions seem like small matters to the stable mind, until those emotions come to it.

Yes. The emotional stress of the mind sets off hormonal changes that affect many organs in the body. One is the heart. It begins to run faster or skips a beat. You stomach, kidneys, bladder, gonads, liver and gall bladder are all affected as well as your intestines. If it proceeds at a too fast a rate or engenders too high a rate, death can result.

Emotions are not controllable by concious effort, thoughts and actions are. I like to think that personality, hormones, live experience and circumstance and soul are where emotion comes from

the heart is a muscle which pumps blood and has no capacity to process thought or emotion any more than your bicep or calf muscle
