What would you have don if your sons and a neighbor wittnessed a dog being abandoned? This just happened to us yesterday My neighbors dog was barking at a younger woman walking a Pomeranian mix up our road, she got to the house across the road from us and a truck pulled beside her, the driver was heard saying to leave the dog. She took it off the leash, got in and thet drove off. My 19 yr old ran in and quickly said what happened. I said go get it (it was in the 20's out). We took it in and since I can't keep it I'm trying to find a responsible new owner for him. I have many other animals including a large and a mediun dog. They all are getting along, but I can't handle a third dog. I did call Animal Control and reported it, but since no one thought to get the tag, nothing can be done. However my oldest son has an excellent memory for vehicles, he thought he reconized it. We live in a smaller toen and sooner or later he'll see the truck again.

Would you believe they came back and dumped a cat this time My neighbor called while I was typing the above part and said they did this late last night. I have written a SHAME ON YOU type notice for our local advertisement paper for all to read about them.

We have a law that animal control can have people prosecuted for neglect. Animal shelter said they'd put it down -no room. We live in a very small town, besides what comes around goes around and they'll get theirs one day.

good for you with the shame on you letter, ofcorse they somehow new to drop the animals in that spot because you and your neighbor cared enough to take them in. people like that do not deserve animals (pets of any kind). i would have done the same. call the shelter and ask if there is a law that they broke and if you knew who done it would there be consequences. if so when your son or you or the neighbor see this vehicle or the people call and report them. if there is nothing they can do than just thank god that now these animals will be going to someone who will truly love them.

In most places, there is a law against dumping animals. Call the police, call animal control, just keep calling. If that fails, call an animal rights group. Don't stop calling even if you get nothing can be done for an answer. Be prepared to recite the law to the authorities and tell them what actions you are prepared to take if nothing is done. When you find the people that did this, send them a letter telling them that you saw them dump their pets. You don't need to sign it if you are worried about what they will do. Call the shelters and vets and make sure they never get another animal.

You did the right thing taking it in. I do not know the laws where you live, but I don't know if reporting the plate number to the shelter will do any good or not. (that is after you find the right truck) I think you should find it a good home or take it to your local shelter and let them adopt it out. YOU ARE DOING A GOOD THING!!! There are so mane cruel people out there that just don't care. It's people like you that makes this world a better place!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! :)

I think what you have done was 100% right. It's okay to be angry about the situation. It's not fair. You were right, and I would have done the same thing. I'm glad you took a stand and did that SHAME ON YOU ad. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Have you tried the SPCA? The local police department may be able to help as well if your son can identify the vehicle.

It would be really good if you can get the licence plate number and dob the Bastards in, and hopefully they get charged.
