ABSOLUTELY! You just have to be agressive in your job search. When it comes to CPS, you cannot simply rely on their website. You have to go to its job fairs and you may actually want to hit the pavement yourself. You have to get yourself out there. If you know someone in the school system, call that person. CPS is huge, you have to be agressive to get out there.

If you are having trouble finding a permanent position, expand your search. More often than not people are afraid of urban schools and limit themselves to a small number of schools--don't do that. You never know what's out there if you are not open. Also, look in the surrounding area. There is no law that states you have to work in CPS. You can go to one of the many surrounding suburbs.

My only warning to you: If you decide to look in the private or charter school sector, be careful. It is difficult working for a school that is not regulated by anyone because of a lack of a union, etc. Their policies can seem unfair and inappropriate.
