My last question about highschool romances and marriage had alot of feedback. I would like to know your opinions about reasons for divorce.

Hi Robert.

In my opinion....and this is coming from a wife whose husband cheated after being married for less than 2 years, one time cheating can be a reason for divorce.

While my husband and I are still together and attempting to heal the wounds that were caused by his lies and deception, it is a difficult road to take. Regardless of whether you stay with someone or leave someone due to cheating, it hurts. The relationship dynamics change, because now I still feel anxiety from time to time, thinking he is talking with the "other person."

The main point I am going to emphasize is it depends on whether the cheater wants to get back with the signficant other and whether the one who was cheated on wants to forgive and remain with the one who strayed. It is not an easy choice, and one that should not be made lightly.

I have often found cheating to be serial...not "one-time".

It is possible for a couple to work though the cheating of one or the other (or both), but it involves a great deal of effort, a lot of tears, many conversations, and a long period of time. Time proves the fidelity more than words, as it shows the sincerity of the persons involved.

If you are the cheater, and the cheatee refuses to forgive you, "them's the breaks". If you are the cheatee, it's your call.
