I suppose you could read this either way. But, I think the term "visit with family" would imply you and your family are getting together irregardless of the location. If you wanted to indicate a location you might say, "visit to the zoo, with family".

"visits" means (in my opinion) to go to someones house . as in " my family went to visit the neighbors" hope this helps =)
