I really want to know if Im a good singer or not. I record my voice on a voice recorder but I sometimes think that it might sound different than my actual voice. Also I tried singing to my friends but I think that they are just telling me Im a good singer to make me feel good. I really need to know. I dont want to tryout for the school musical and make a fool out of myself. Please no stupid answers. Any suggestions or advice?

Have you tried to do Karoke at a place(club, bar-whatever)so people you don't know you can hear you? Do you take chorus at school? If so then ask the teacher for some advice.

From what I know, just keep practicing, and don't forget to sing out loud, so that people can hear you. I don't mean to scream, but you need to sing with vitality and energy. When you are singing a louder part in a song, sing with power in your voice, when you're at a quieter part of the song, sing with audible energy. And even if you mess up, don't stop trying. So long as you practice, you can work wonders with your voice. I'm sure you're a great singer, just perform as best as you can and don't give up

if its a decent recorder, you voice won't sound much different. It only sounds different to you because the vibration of your eardrums when you talk alters the way you hear your own voice. Make sure you voice follows the rythym of the song and stays in key.
