Lest you quickly decide the answer is the past, remember the recent instances of heroic rescues in New York; or the incredible actions of those caught up in the horrors of 9/11; or the strides we have taken in racial equality and religious freedoms. And lest you decide too quickly that the answer is modern times, don't forget how it used to be when back doors didn't need to be locked, and your neighbor took as good care of your family as you did their family, or how television was only 3 channels of family oriented programs. So... what do YOU think?

I think we have become less ignorant towards other humans, HOWEVER, 50 years ago there was not a gang problem, people killing each other for their expensive shoes, drugs....we have a lot of crap to try to clean up. Sometimes, I think earth is a hell in itself....the way people treat each other.

Overall people are more tolerant and humane. They care more about the world at large.

I'm sure many communities have deteriorated as populations grow and demographics change. Overall things are still better worldwide.
