Okay, let me wrap my brains around this a bit....
What I have learned as a mom of a 24 year old AND an 11 year old is THAT I AM a BETTER parent than I was aT EVEN 20 YEARS OLD. gOOD PARENTS HAPPEN AT all ages.. BUT to BE EXCEPTIONAL AND un SELFISH I THINK YOU HAVE TO SUFFER and SOLVE a lot of life situations. This gives you the knowledge to know what is important and what is NOT important. Therefore saving a child the grief of our confusion and inconsistancies.

I've seen teens turn out to be very good mothers, just like I've seen a 30 year old be a horrible mother- the number isn't the important part of age. If a 16 year old has a baby, and gets a job to support her child and loves it, and raises it with love, compassion, and helps it grow into a great person, then it sounds to me like she's a pretty darn good mom. Teens USUALLY can't be good parents just because of the fact that most teens aren't mature enough to handle that kind of responsibility. Being a parent I'm sure you know that there is no greater turning point in your life than having a child- it is the single moment in your life when you giving up living for yourself and dedicate the rest of your life to living for them- to take care of them and nurture their survival. I don't think she becomes a good parent automatically at any age- it all depends on how she handles the burden and where she puts her priorities as a parent; herself, or her child?

No the teen mom will never go away. People will always say you were a teen mom no matter what age. you are a good parent when you put the childs needs before your own. when you decide hey, this kid is my life and I will love them no matter what. In some cases your parent skills kick in instantly. I got pregnant at 16 had my little girl at 17. It was nerve racking when she was born. I was getting up, I was changing diapers, I was feeding. I didn't care. I loved her. I just got 5 hours a night but I was thinking she needs me.I am all she has to protect her and give her what she needs. I am a Mother. But people will always look at you as a teen mom. But a good Mother.

Very, very good question!
I don't think there is a specific age on when to become a good parent, plus, who really is a good parent and who is not?
Teen parent, I guess, you call it that when a kid still goes to school, is under 18, doesn't really have a clue about what she/he wants to do with their life...I believe, even a teen parent can be a good parent, simply because he/she has to be, but why? Remember, you can always be an adult, once done with childhood and being a teenager. Can't go back, though. Save the parenting for later.

to your first question : it changes when the mom ( teen or not) puts that child above everything.
to your second question : no i dont think the title ever goes away. i am 20 yrs old and my daughter is almost 2.i got pregnant at 18, so i can say i was a teen mom. even if u use the title as past tense, the title is still there.

I dk I am sorry. But they are VERY good questions! That I would kinda like to know. Well I think some ppl are always goin to keep callin/sayin the teen parent name cuz they look down on ppl that do that at such a young age but I dk. I would think a teen mom would be just a person that has a child in their teens. prob not.

well my cousin is 16 and 8 1/2 months pregnant, and i know she will be the best mom ever because she is muture. she should of been on birth control and other protection, but even if she is a teen mom, she will be so great at it. i think people think that teen moms wont be good moms cause they are young and most dont go to collage after that. but i think we should look at the person, not the age of the mother. some 35yr old moms arent as great as some teen moms. :)

I believe that age isn't necessarily a factor in being a "good mom." In my opinion, I believe a good mom is one that has the necesssary time to spend with the child and genuinely wants to spend time to nurture and teach the child the things that she/he needs to know. I also believe that to be a good mother, you have the maturity to handle such situations and claim full responsibility for your child. Unfortunately, many "teen moms" are labeled as bad parents because of the lack of time that WANT to spend with their child, or lack of motivation to do so either. And also, a good parent is one that doesn't take "fight or flight" as their motto--meaning when times get tough they either deal with it (a good parent) or run (a bad parent).
The teen mom title is obvious--it goes away after you are not a teen any longer.
