If a mother can't legally kill her newborn baby, 3 year old kid, 10 year old daughter, 20 year old son etc.... then why can she murder a baby before it's born? If it is a choice to kill your baby, then why can't you just kill your kid too? This is a messed up world... how can anybody see logic in "pro-choice" abortion is MURDER

Actually a fetus IS alive!! A fetus can live on it's own very early on actually with machines hooked to it. The heartbeat begins very early as well... how can you say a fetus is not ALIVE!

There's nothing wrong with putting a child up for adoption, infertile couples would LOVE to take in the children that are murdered in abortions.

there is something seriously wrong with you people... the point is that a fetus becomes a human!!!!! ALIVE and abortion prevents a life - therefore it is murder... and it is disgusting for you to say they are better off dead... you all make me sick.

If a fetus has to be hooked up to machines, it cannot live on it's own. At 20 weeks a fetus can live on it's own (That's 5 months). Abortion clinics should not be performing abortions after this time anyway. MEN should have no opinion on this subject because they don't have to deal with any of it. Plus the fact that men could never know how difficult a pregnancy is on a woman (emotionally and physically). Men have the option of leaving, women don't. I just love how men are all for pro-life until they "accidentally" get a woman pregnant. Another thing, if you saved all the aborted babies from abortion and put them up for adoption, I guarantee you, the orphanages would run-ith over with children. I am a Republican and conservative on every issue but this one!!!!

Actually, abortion is just an elective medical procedure that a woman can have. The moralistic arguements are just crap thrown about by politicians and the govt. in order to keep people from seeing what they're actually doing. The group of cells called a fetus is not a living being until it is capable of surviving on its own, outside of the womb. The govt. agrees with this as well. If you don't believe me, ask why you only get a tax break once the child is born, not concieved.
It's a messed up world when people try to lay their morals on others doorsteps. If your answer to this is to put the child up for adoption, tell us how many children you personally have adopted out of this type of situation. It's rather easy to condemn a choice and offer an alternative that you personally haven't taken part in.
It is possible to be both pro-choice, and pro-life. Personally, I wouldn't want my gf to have an abortion, but that doesn't mean that she shouldn't have the right to make that decision.
Maybe the answer is to teach children more than abstinence in schools (the US federal gov't supports abstinence only education). When a person has better and complete information at their disposal, they can make better and more educated decisions.
EDIT: If it needs to hooked up to machines in order to survive (and develop) then its not alive.
2ND EDIT: And according to your bible, its not your place to judge another...and Hitler was a christian...
And Snapdragon...I said to teach them MORE than just abstinence.

Abortion is legal because their should be options for everyone. If it's something you don't believe in then it's an option not for you. But why should options be limited because of your opinion. If it is murder then that is something they will have to deal with why worry about somebody else's sins. Also, these babies that are not wanted usually end up being a ward of the state and that means you and I pick up the tab for services for this child without parents to take care of them. I love when all those who oppose abortion are out there screaming murder but I don't see them adopting everyone one of these unwanted kids. If you are against abortion then offer yourself to take those children when they are born and you raise them. There's an idea.
Just wanted to let you know NOT TO PLAY GOD AND JUDGE. IF EVERYONE MINDED THEIR BUSINESS I THINK THIS WORLD WOULD BE IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE.

It's this funny thing about freedom of choice, and when is a fetus LEGALLY a human being, sorry I am a single man and don't currently have an opinion either way with the unborn yet. I think it stemed mostly from people not taking responsibility for their actions (pregnancy) and looking for a way out.
Adoption sounds good, but the new trend is to adopt a kid from overseas, in fact people have been adopting from China and Europe for years. Seems they don't want to risk getting a crack baby here.

Im a pro-lifer myself. The problem that the judicial system have with this issue is that if the government recognize the baby to be as a person, then the government will have responsibility to assure protection of that baby to be. In order to protect that person to be, the government will have to ask every child bearing women (and girls) to submit to a pregnancy test every month until she has menopause. The judicial system has a major problem with the government intruding into the privacy of all those women.
There are also all sorts of other legal ramifications beside this but this is the biggest one.

Because a 3 year old is a self contained human being that can breath on its own. A fetus is solely dependent on the mother for existence and her bodily functions. The law is the law, and until it is no longer deemed a medical procedure you will have to quit your whining. Abortion is a personal choice. How many unwanted children have you adopted if that is the solution? There are over one half million children in foster care 125k of those are adoptable...so why is no one stepping up to the plate to adopt.
EDIT: Thank you for showing your true intelligence level with comparing abortion a MEDICAL procedure, to someone who took full grown adults and starved and slaughtered them. You have just proved yourself to be a complete moron. I bet your mother must be having second thoughts about letting you matriculate to life.

its not illegal to kill your 3yr old, etc??
abortion is legal because the baby is not technically a person yet and the mother has her own rights, such as trying to do best for herself and her baby. If she cant support a baby at age 17 then she shouldnt have that baby. Putting just another kid in foster care means that kid will probably have a shitty life in an already overfilled system. Stop encouraging ppl to just dump their kids in foster care where the chances of their getting adopted are slim especially as they get older.
edit (response to below comment):
I don't think the answer is to teach kids abstinence. Studies (yes, i revert back to the "studies") show that if you teach 'wait until marraige' it really has little effect on kids. In fact it may even INFLATE teen birth rates because fact it, kids are going to have sex. This just means that when they get down and dirty they wont know how to be safe because all school taught them was to not do it. Teach kids how to be safe and how not to get pregnant. INFORM them and you can at least be comforted that when they do it, they will take all the right safety measures.

First of all, there is no right to abortion. The Supreme Court said no such thing. What abortion is based on is the right to privacy between a doctor and his patient. To prevent abortion would be to violate that privacy. The government would have to have access to her medical records.
Secondly, until a fetus is viable (able to live outside the womb), it is not a person, it is a parasite, just like a tapeworm. If pro-lifers can force pregnant women to support fetuses, then pro-animals can force people to support tapeworms. They are both alive.
I don't believe in abortion, and if I were a doctor, I would not participate in them, but God has told me unequivocally that I am not to stand in judgment of others. They will have to face their actions when the time comes. I cannot impose my religious beliefs on others, just as they cannot impose theirs on me. I cannot stand to interpret God's will with regards to those who kill, steal, lie, abuse, or torture others. I can only stand to protect the rest of society from them. As a juror, I can not impose my religion's punishments on them for violating my religion; I can only protect others from future abuses. Get it?
As for parents killing a three year old, that argument is a complete nonsequiter. A three year old is an independent, albeit, dependent, being. It can survive its mother's death, whereas a fetus cannot.

Because it could save the potential baby from a very unhappy existence. It could be the baby of two related people who didn't realize it, until it was too late. It could be the baby of a teenage mother, whose father was too young and irresponsible to stick around. Abortions help solve overpopulation and poverty. A teenage mother probably wouldn't be able to raise her baby very well, and would probably end up homeless or in severe poverty. Is that a desirable kind of life? I think not.
Separation of Church and State. If abortion is opposed for religious reasons, that doesn't matter. The laws of the country and the laws of Christianity need to stay far, far away from each other.

Abortion is legal because every individual has to answer for his or her actions before God alone. And only God is judge of any of us. Just because people make decisions that we are opposed to or that we wouldn't make if we were in like situations doesn't give us the permission to take the God given governance of her person from her. Period. I agree that abortion is bad. But tell that to a rape victim, or a molested 12 year old. If God is good and he is...why then did he allow the 12 year old girl to be violated and why would he subject her to the reminder of her victimization by bringing that child to term. Get off of your self righteous high horse and stand in the shoes of a woman....~~~~W
