1th time in college? You sound like you need to go back to elementary school.

1st time in college would be the correct response. You will make friends. Will you be living on campus? That will help...you will have a roomate.

don't drink too much...

Make a lot of friends. It's tougher in the second semester, because a lot of people by then are locked into a routine, and their own lives, and it's harder to make friends. There are thousands of people like you who want to be friends, so play up your personality, and socialize!

I don't want to burst your bubble, but sometimes if high school friends go to college together, they change. Things are so different, you can even grow apart. That's what happened to me. I didn't worry about it though, because I was focused on grades!

About your mom working there....it seems like you live in a college town, so you must go to college from your home? I don't know. I don't think it's a problem if your mom works there. nobody will care she's your mom, like in high school. Nobody will even know she's your mom. They are not concerned about that. College is part of growing up. College students could care less that she's your mom. They will probably be worried about their exams, grades, and a myriad of other things. Don't stress about that. Just relax and let everything fall into place.

College is nothing like high school. Everyone talks to everyone, but now it's about what major everyone is....it's not about what's cool or what's hot, or something. To tell you the truth, it's really easy to make new friends in college.

You won't get too much help from a person who has a totally different major than yours, but it helps to know many people with different majors, because in the long run, that's what it's about. Abuot finding your place in college. These people may help you make your decision. Anyway, you'll be forced to choose one anyway, after a certain number of credits.
