During the 16th century, a movement began in Europe against the Catholic Church that was primarily a religious event. This event was the Protestant Reformation that was set off by Martin Luther and his Ninety-Five Theses. There are economic and political causes, but they can also be religious causes because they involve the Church.

Here is the question:
"The protestant rerformation was primarily a economic event" By describing and determining the relative importance of the economic, political, and religious causes of the Reformation, defend or refute the statement.
I am refuting the statement saying it was primarily a religious event.
