Red eared slider eggs are not clear, they are opaque, like normal chicken eggs but much smaller. Also, the turtle would not lay the eggs in the water, but would try to find a spot on land where she can dig and bury the eggs.

You can tell that your female is laying eggs if you see her trying to dig all the time when she's on the 'land' side of the aquarium. If she can dig there, then it's great. If not, I suggest you give her somewhere where she can lay those eggs. If she doesn't find a good spot, she may refrain from laying and die from egg binding.

Hope this answers your question.

Water turtles WILL lay eggs in the water sometimes, however, It is NOT normal and it is very stressful on them! Water turtles need land to lay eggs in. Some will lay in the water when they have no other choice but many will just retain the eggs and get infected and die. That is called egg binding (dystocia). Most water turtles will need to lay eggs 2 or more times per year.

So many people get poor care information about turtles and then the turtles are the ones that pay the price with their lives. Pet Store are notorious for giving poor care info. for turtles.

Turtles do better in an outdoor setting with a pond where they can have land access. Some may lay in a dirt area indoors but I wouldn't depend on that. Dirt needs to be 8 or more inches deep for large turtles. Some are very picky about the dirt too.

If they are clear bubbles with no shell, the turtle may be so UVB and calcium deficient that it can't lay shelled eggs.

If your Female is alone in the tank and did not mate with another turtle, then she might be laying non-fertile eggs. It happens with female turtles when they reach maturity. You should feed her more now, when she lays eggs takes alot of their energy.

Turtles lay eggs that look like small Ping Pong balls- white with a slight pebbly/leathery texture. If they do lay them in the water, they are infertile.

Clear eggs are usually from fish or amphibians.
