all you need is a broadband internet connection and a credit card. just take the same internet cable that's connected to your computer and stick it in the back of the 360. open up your profile on the 360 and there will be an option to register for xbox live. there is a silver membership and a gold membership. silver is free but you can't play games online. so you need to sign up for a gold membership. just follow the directions on the xbox. theres 2 payment options, you can either pay $50 once a year(comes out to $4 a month) or you can pay $6 dollars once a month.
