no. we don't need fallout shelters. just run down to the nearest school and stick your head under the desk. that should protect you. that's what they told us to do when i was in elementary school back in the 60's.

We don't have a "building or fallout shelter" but we do keep emergency supplies for a few days. It is a good thing because in the last 8 days we have been off electric for 5 of those. If it weren't for having lamp oil and a lamp, containers of propane and a burner that screws on the top of it, and candles, we would have been in deep crap. Well actually we could have gone to the public shelter.... that would have been a real joy. No Thanks.
It might not hurt, that is my answer. I had rather be self-sufficient if it is at all possible. Even if it is a nuclear occurrence.

I don't think so, because if it came to a nuclear holocaust now, every country that would be involved has so much utter destructive power, that if you did survive the event, you would not live very long or very well!!
The nuclear winter alone would send us spinning into the next Ice Age!! Some survived the first Ice Age, but we have evolved. We are not equipped to survive in those conditions.
Another problem would be the mutations and deformities.
I think anybody living at that time would wish they were dead, and they may soon be, by their own hand!

Actually we have fallout shelters. Most basements are suitable fallout shelters if you have one. For today's attacks buy plastic sheeting and duct tape, gas masks, Food and Water enough for each person for atleast 3 days (under your discretion), flashlight and batteries, first aid kit, radio, ID and some money, along with essential medication needed. Hopes this helps. If you need more info check out fema.gov.

No fallout shelters were for if the whole coutry gets a nuclear hit.
If a nuclear bomb goes off in a city near you. (terrorist)
You can move to another part of the country.

It would only prolong the inevitable--death. No country can win a nuclear war. The radiation would kill the attackers as well as the victims. If it should happen just bend over, kiss your butt good-bye and hope you're one of the first to die. The dead will be the lucky ones. The survivors will follow you after a long agonizing death.

Nope. Those shelters wouldn't have worked then and certainly won't today either.

No, But a mandate for EMP protection be built to "all" new electronic devices would not be a bad idea.
