No. If you'll check the history of religion in the World you will see that it's rarely been peaceful. just look what goes on today. Why should the Religion & Spirituality section be any different?

When I was younger and wanted to read some alternative spiritual viewpoints I had some trepidation about entering that section of a bookstore or library mainly because christian zealots like to hang out there to try and proselytize the curious before they can read anything else.

They are just plain rude.

Yes and no. If I happen to come across an interesting question by browsing, I'll answer it but for the most part I avoid it because so many people are just plain mean and take things the wrong way. I haven't received any angry emails though. I blocked it when I signed up for Yahoo! Answers.

If I notice a question, I will answer at times, but not a category I seek. Think I do better in the philosophy section for related material. Love to philosophize...

I'm not afraid, I like a good debate. Unfortuantely, a majority of the people in there don't know how to reason and just throw insults at one another or make false claims about books I don't think they've actually read.

Probably the most angry and polarized section.
People usually have their minds up and want to talk, not listen.
They are not going to change you mind or you theirs.
The appear to be less tolerant of anybodies beliefs except their own.
They argue and name call constantly.

Afraid? No, not at all.
