The formal name is Tennessee Walking Horse. Most people, however, do refer to it as the Tennessee Walker.

Both ways are fine. People usually cut it down to walker, but on official papers it is walking horse. I say walker myself. And so do every other person I know. I'm from Oklahoma, and I'll have to admit our grammer ain't the best. Butter, sounds like Budder, and Kitten, sounds like Kiddin. If you want to find offical info on them, you would have to type Tennessee Walking Horse.

I've always heard it referred to as a Tennessee Walking Horse. :) I wonder if it's a "depends where you're from" thing. (I'm from the Chicago area).

it really does not matter. i have heard it both ways from both owners and non owners of these wonderful horses. its kind of like Missouri Fox Trotter/Fox Trotter, American Saddlebred/Saddlebred, or Peruvian Paso Fino/ Peruvian Paso. It is just a shorter way to say an already long name.
