a five pointed star in a circle a pentacle is the object like jewelry or something concrete a pentagram is the same object drawn, gram meaning written. there is a variety of mistakes in many of these messages, even by one who says shes been at it 20 yrs, im glad ive been wiccan for 30, hope the other ten years help her clear up her misinformation. it has two sets of signifigance, one is the elements, earth, air , fire, water, and spirit, the other is the human body, head, hands and feet encircled in protection, a disk is not a pentacle unless it has the star on it. the star is what makes the penta part of it, meaning a 5 sided figure, such as the pentagon is five sided, but the star is five pointed instead, pagans are many things other than wiccans, they are buddahists, they are shintos, they are native americans, they are traditional egyptians, they are many many things, pagan simply means not believing in the biblical god comming from latin Pagani which meant the people the common people who hung onto the old gods when the romans had turned to christ. there is so much lack of understanding when it comes to these things. but yes i do reccomend witch vox . com among other sites. however having a site does not mean all the info is correct, Blessed Be

The pentacle is a five pointed star within a circle that represents certain elements or concepts, depending on who the pentacle is being used by. It has been used on and off for centuries by many different faiths and traditions, but the most prominent one right now, is used by pagans. The five points of the star represent earth, air, water, fire, and spirit.

It is a five sided star with the top point facing up. A pentaGRAM is a pentacle in a circle. It is generally used for protection and each point has a meaning, like Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, and Magic for the elements (Fire, Earth, Water, Wood, Metal in Asian mythos). An inverted pentagram (one with the topmost point pointing downward) is used by Satanists as a symbol to identify themselves.

Specifically, a pentacle is a disc used to represent the earth in ritual magic or Wiccan/Pagan religion.
It is also used to refer to an article of jewelry that is sometimes worn by Wiccans and other Pagans as a symbol of faith.
Neither of these are the same as a PENTAGRAM, which is a five-pointed star which is also used by Pagans/Wiccans as part of their practices.
-- None of them are evil in and of themselves although they have been thought to be by those who should know better.

the pentacle stands for life in the wicca and witchcraft religion.the top part of the pentacle represnts the earth of all things that are shared with our lives.the left point represents the water that we drink to be filled with the blessings of the ancient Ones.the right side of the pentacle represents the air of the spirit within us all.the spirit calls the knowledge of life to us and for us to learn the sacred lessons that are given to us at the early age of life.the bottom part, represents the fire of the element.the element of fire represents the fire that when we light the torch of Goddess Hekate,we light the fire of the triple Goddess of all witchcraft.we hold the key of the Underworld and it is up to us to walk this path of rightousness and learn the paths that we must follow that are given to us in the beginning and the end.the element of fire guides us through our darkess moments of trials and tribulations in our lives.in hopes that the element can guide us to victory in our life if only we accept it.

It's a 5 sided star worn by many pagans to symbolize the 5 elements: Earth, Air,Fire, Water, and Spirit. When inverted in a circle it is the pentagram which is the symbol used by satanists.
