They are probably not contractions; just pressure from your growing uterus. You should report this to your doctor anyway just in case he wants you to come in.

Those sharp pains may just be the baby's weight coming to rest on the cervix after emptying your bladder. Walking around will cause all kinds of weird sharp pains at the end of pregnancy. To know if they are contractions, I recommend lying on your left side with your hand pressed firmly on your baby belly. You will feel it tighten if you are contracting. Know this, you will not miss labor. If you are starting labor and don't know for sure, it is in its earliest stages and you will catch on in a few hours or a day or two when it begins in earnest. If you received a shot to stop labor five days ago, your doctor has a target date in mind, try to rest until you get close to that date then walk, walk, walk. A towel warmed in the dryer can help with the muscle pains. If you ever hurt so bad that you can't stand it, go in, its not worth the suffering nor the worry. Don't worry, you really won't be pregnant forever and you won't miss labor.

I've been having pains like that too since i was 2 months pregnant. I was placed on bed rest. I too have gone into labor quite a few times. It could be just that your muscles need a rest or that you're fragile. If your baby has dropped and you have gone into labor before then you need to be on bed rest like me. Also my ob told me that small women like my self have a hard time with their first pregnancy due to the weight gain and trying to accommodate a baby with such a small body. I think you should just stay in bed and see if that helps any. that means for no reason at all unless for the bath room should you be on your feet! Good luck !

Totally fine. It's not from laying on a nerve, or the weight gain. I've only gained 14lbs and I'm around 34 weeks along. (My family just doesn't gain any extra weight except for the baby's) It's from the strain of carrying the baby. When you are pregnant, especially this far along, you walk differently. You can take tylenol for the pain. I've got the same thing but on both sides, plus a sore muscle in the back. Quite normal, just not one of those things they tend to wright about in the books. My son had a wonderful delivery and hoping for about the same for my daughter's.

Round ligament pain
Round ligament pain is generally a brief, sharp, stabbing pain or a longer-lasting, dull ache that you may feel on one or both sides of your lower abdomen or deep in your groin, usually starting in your second trimester. It happens when the ligaments that support your uterus in your pelvis stretch and thicken to accommodate and support its growing size.

You may feel a short jabbing sensation if you suddenly change position, such as when you're getting out of bed or up from a chair or when you cough, roll over in bed, or get out of the bathtub. Or you may feel a dull ache after a particularly active day, if you've been walking a lot or doing some other physical activity. Call your caregiver if this discomfort continues even after you've rested

I would like to say that it could be several diagnoses. Without examination to determine a differential diagnosis saying what it is, would be unethical. However, note this. The baby is swelling inside you. Baby can press up against your nerves, bladder, and so many other things. So don't be too alarmed that it is automatically something bad.

I have had 3 kids and everytime I had this happen to me it was just pressure from the baby dropping but it is a good idea to let your Dr know so they can do a exam to make sure you are not dilating.

The baby could just be laying weird inside of you, my mum couldn't even walk when she was pregnant with me because I was on an organ, I don't know which one though.
