Although, the basic models in all ranges have more then enough Horse Power, don't look to Pontiac to be a active manufactor when it comes to follow up on design and manufatoring defect's. It seems to be there attitude that you bought it, it's your problem, but we will fix it for a fee.

No car will be very reliable if you don't maintain it.
I had a 1989 Pont Sunbird 2.0 litre inline 4, 5 sp, and put over 425000 km on it (265000 miles) and had no problems until it was hit by a large truck in 2001. lol

I have a PONTIAC GTP It has a 3800 v6 after we did some work to it it put out about 400hp yes its fast
