Is this kind of preference a recipe for disaster? Failed relationships and/or marriages?

It means that she's an idiot or under the age of 25...which both descriptions apply. Hey, I was no different at those ages. But yes, I agree that a lot of nice females will go out with a complete rude and mean idiot, usually sporting the excuse, "He's nice, you just have to get to know him".
You know, like you have to go through some obstacle course of unknowns to "find out" if this guy is as much of a prick as he seems. Chance are, though, is that he is a prick and the girl defending him is a moron.
It's hip to be a prick during your teen years. Just the nature of the beast.
Now if the girl is over 20...chances are she's nuttier than a fruitcake and don't fret over not being able to be with her and be a "nice guy" to her. She'll probably be the size of a blimp within a year or so, if she isn't showing signs of it already.
Now ladies under the age of 25, don't come crying about how smart you are, how you've got a job and all your excuses and how wrong I am. Don't start counting on each finger while stating every little act that's already expected of you and trying to sell it for much more than it's really worth.
Think of how idiotic people younger than you act and the stupid decisions they make.
I rest my case.

When a girl says something like that, she probably means that the "nice guys"(i.e. the guys that will be there for her, soft-natured, soft-hearted) are too boring for her and she wants a guy with an edge(someone who has large muscles, a roughneck attitude and in short, a bad boy." I don't think bad boys don't make good husbands because bad boys, in my opinion, can be too old-fashion, too chauvinistic, and in some cases, borderline abusive.

Dangerous men do things to women that they like... they don't seek approval, they don't do expected things, they communicate on emotional levels.... these are the things they do right. Obviously they do a lot of stuff wrong, but it's so important to get the good stuff right, some women perfer bad boys simply because they can feel something. You don't have to be bad to do the same things, but you do have to do these things.
